There are other threads to the story. In 1993, Nick Davis took over as senior partner. Not only did he bring the highest level of technical excellence to the practice, he also followed the traditions set by his father, Owen Davis, a founder of Davis Belfield & Everest. (Bobbie Everest was a descendant of George Everest, Surveyor General of India 1830 - 1843, who gave his name to Mount Everest).
Owen Davis recognised that good relationships with architects, supporting their ideals for projects, would stand the business in good stead. Nick Davis carried this forward in a very special way that continues today. He also remained loyal to his father's commitment to a flat ownership structure, which is still upheld in our meritocratic and equitable culture.
The firm grew in the 1990s through mergers with Ray May & Associates, Clarence Smart & Partners, Leighton & Wright, and Poole Stokes Wood.
